October 2024
We flew into Green Bay late Friday night, full of excitement to finally check Lambeau Field off our NFL stadium bucket list. Even arriving after dark, the town’s football energy was in the air and you can truly feel how much this city lives and breathes the Green Bay Packers.
Saturday: Legendary Lambeau and Titletown
Bright and early Saturday morning, we made our way to Lambeau Field for the Legendary Tour, and it lived up to its name! The tour takes you through the history, pride, and tradition that makes Lambeau such an iconic football landmark. We started in the Field Atrium before exploring the East Side premium seating areas, the End Zone rooftop, and the exclusive End Zone Club. From there we stepped into the Lee Remmel Press Box, peeked into the visiting team locker room, walked through the team tunnel, and finally emerged onto the field level sidelines. It’s impossible not to get chills imagining all the historic moments that have happened there.
After the tour, we continued into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame, which was another highlight of the trip. We saw the evolution of football gear through the decades, learned about the Packers’ Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees, and stood in awe of their four Lombardi Trophies, true symbols of NFL greatness. The exhibits were interactive and beautifully done, making it a must visit for any football fan, even if you’re cheering for the opposing team like we were!
From there, we spent the rest of the afternoon exploring Titletown, the fun entertainment district just steps from the stadium. The area is full of restaurants, bars, and activities, making it the perfect place to hang out before or after a game. Between the chilly fall air, the smell of cheese curds in the breeze, and the sea of green and gold everywhere you look, it’s hard not to fall in love with the charm of Green Bay.
Sunday: Game Day at Lambeau Field
Game day arrived with classic Wisconsin weather – cool, wet, and full of sprinkles, hovering around 49 degrees. That didn’t stop the energy though! We kicked things off tailgating at The Bar, a Green Bay staple known for great food, drinks, music, and an atmosphere buzzing with excitement. The Packers fans we met were some of the friendliest we’ve encountered on any Cardinals road trip. Everyone was welcoming, full of stories, and genuinely happy to share their game-day traditions.
When it was time to head inside, we made our way to our seats on the visitor’s side, 35-yard line, row 4 – incredible views and close enough to feel the intensity on the field. Even though the Cardinals didn’t pull off the win, being there was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Lambeau Field is more than just a football stadium; it’s a living museum of the sport. The atmosphere, history, and respect among fans made it one of the best NFL stadium experiences we’ve ever had.
We voted the Green Bay Packers and Lambeau Field the most Historic Stadium!
Post-Game: A Touch of Christmas Spirit
After the game, we made the short drive to Cleo’s Cocktail Lounge in Appleton for some post-game drinks and what a surprise it was! If you’re a fan of Christmas lights and festive decor, Cleo’s is a must-stop destination. The bar is decked out in holiday decorations 365 days a year, a tradition that started back in 1970. Between the cozy glow of lights, the upbeat energy, and a few celebratory drinks, it was the perfect way to wrap up our Green Bay adventure.
Final Thoughts
Our trip to Green Bay and Lambeau Field was everything we hoped for and more – rich history, incredible fans, great food, and unforgettable memories. Even though our Cardinals didn’t bring home the win, the experience alone was worth it. Green Bay is truly a special place where football isn’t just a sport, it’s a way of life.
Another amazing road game in the books, another iconic stadium crossed off the list (#7), and another city full of new friends and unforgettable moments. Until next time, Go Cards!
